Transcript: It’s good to remember that our past and present is all part of God’s plan. It was that way for Joseph – and he recognized it. It can be the same for me and you as well. The final chapter of Genesis reveals that Joseph’s brothers feared retaliation from Joseph or judgment from God for selling their younger brother into http://slavery.and and they deserved it. But Joseph wisely responded, “You meant evil against me, but God meant it for good.” The same attitude can be yours today. Sometimes the worst of troubles can overwhelm us in the moment. But when we trust in God, we can rise above those troubles and understand that God seeks not to destroy us, but to develop us. It’s never about us. Transcript: Why does God allow us to go through the storms of life? One reason is to increase our faith because when we see His power and presence in those storms we realize that He is there. Hello, I’m Sam Rohrer with another Stand in the Gap Minute. The disciples of Jesus once found themselves in a boat during a storm and they feared for their lives. Where was Jesus? He was asleep -in the same boat. They woke him and urged Him to help. Jesus’ response was perfect. Why do you fear? He calmly rebuked the storm and peace returned. All it took was a word from God to change their storm to calm. He hadn’t forgotten them. In the storm, they’d just forgotten Him. Christ is always with those who know Him. His timing is perfect. Transcript: We all face challenges in life- don’t we?. Whether a relationship, finances, a job, or other areas. And, when times are tough, we tend to ask ourselves where is God? As Jesus gave His final words at the Great Commission, He promised, “I am with you always, even to the very end of the age.” Jesus is always with us, even when it may not feel that way. Now, feelings are important, but they can sometimes trick us into believing the lie that God has abandoned us. But God does not abandon us. His love and presence transcends all events and overcomes all life’s challenges. It’s been said when we find ourselves at the end of our rope – just let go, because only then that we can realize that we’re in the palm of God’s hand. Do you have that assurance? Persecution Series: Count It All Joy

Transcript: The Bible teaches us to “count it all joy” when we face trouble or persecution. How can we find real joy in times of trouble? Hello, I’m Sam Rohrer with another Stand in the Gap Minute. This week, we’ve looked at the persecution we should expect as believers and how to respond to it. But James 1:2 adds that we are to count it all joy. Why? The verse adds that the testing of our faith “produces steadfastness” or resilience. When we experience suffering, we build our endurance. Just as exercise builds the strength of our physical body, persecution strengthens our spirit. A workout may not feel like fun at the time, but consistent effort leads to much improvement. In a similar way, consistently facing persecution with joy deepens our faith and makes us more effective in living for God. Don’t fear persecution. Count it all joy today! Persecution Series: Preparing for Persecution

Transcript: Do you know that the Bible actually teaches that believers are to prepare for persecution? We’re not called to avoid tough times, but rather to anticipate them. Hello, I’m Sam Rohrer with another Stand in the Gap Minute. In 2 Corinthians 4, the apostle Paul wrote he was “persecuted, but not forsaken.” He understood that he would face difficult times, just like other followers of Christ. He also encouraged believers to prepare for the hardships we face by looking forward to heaven. Paul wrote “do not lose heart” and to look to “the things that are unseen.” Our best defense against hardship is not searching for an escape, but looking forward to eternity. When we gaze at our future, we’ll be better prepared to face the challenges of the present. Persecution Series: Types of Persecution

Transcript: American Christians sometimes falsely believe we won’t really suffer for our faith like people in other countries where Believers are beaten, raped or killed for following Christ. While we may or may not, the Bible describes a variety of persecutions we may face in standing firm in our faith. Hello, I’m Sam Rohrer with another Stand in the Gap Minute. Our American freedoms allow us to worship the Lord, yet are we not already facing criticisms and mockings? In Hebrews 11, those who followed God faced challenges of exile, imprisonment, torture, death, and ridicule. God noted “the world was not worthy of them.” But one thing we often miss is that God acknowledged every persecution faced by His people as important. Whether it’s a loss of job, family, or reputation, God sees and knows when we suffer for Him. Don’t be discouraged. Stand firm whatever you face, knowing God is with you through every challenge. Persecution Series: Just Like Jesus

Transcript: While some claim faithfulness will lead to material blessing, Scripture teaches that faithful living will lead to persecution. Hello, I’m Sam Rohrer with another Stand in the Gap Minute. In John 15, Jesus told His followers that the world would hate us because we are not of this world. He added, “If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you.” As American believers, we often view adversity differently than does Scripture. Many falsely preach Prosperity Gospel and that if you’re persecuted or not materially blessed you’re not living faithfully. But this just isn’t true. Persecution’s not the exception for the faithful believer; it’s the norm. So, don’t be surprised that when you fear God and faithfully keep His commands you’ll feel resistance from the culture. Persecution Series: Expecting Persecution

Transcript: Often times, people are told that if they become a Christian they will be prosperous and live free of persecution. But is this true? Not according to the apostle Paul. Hello, I’m Sam Rohrer with another Stand in the Gap Minute. In 2 Timothy 3:12, Paul wrote “all who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted.” Suffering is the norm, not the exception, for those who live like Christ. Unlike the feel-good messages some communicate today, those who live a godly life should expect persecution rather than prosperity. Just as Paul, the other apostles, and even Jesus faced trials for doing what was right. So we must be prepared to face adversity when we commit to living according to biblical truth. Our response should not be surprise when we’re persecuted, but rather to stand firm in boldness and love when others reject Jesus Christ the object of our faith. Transcript: Hello, I’m Sam Rohrer with the American Pastors Network with another Stand in the Gap Minute. With Easter now behind us, living in spiritual victory should be our focus. Victory begins believing there’s an enemy and a battle – but that victory’s ours through a risen Jesus Christ. Eph. 6 says we battle not against flesh and blood but principalities and powers in high places -so put on the whole armor of God. Living victoriously includes identifying the enemy as the world, the flesh and the Devil. Victory requires believing that the devil’s fighting hard to keep us defeated, ineffective, and without influence in our culture. Sadly, the latest surveys indicate that 74% of Americans say they’re Christians, but of these over 50% live in daily defeat because they don’t believe either the Holy Spirit or the Devil are real. Easter Series: He’s Risen Indeed!

Transcript: “Into thy hands I commend my spirit”. And with those solemn words, Jesus died, fulfilling His words that no man would take His life. The perfect Lamb –-God’s promised Redeeming sacrifice became sin for us and died so we could live. What Satan schemed as victory over Christ was Christ’s victory over him, death, and hell. Easter Series: Make Easter’s Victory Yours

While Easter’s a witness of God’s Power over death and Sin, a fulfillment of his promise of redemption, proof of His victory over Satan, it’s also an historical event. Proven and witnessed by hundreds, the power of Easter is also very personal because it was Christ’s willing death on the cross to shed His blood to pay a debt He didn’t owe and pay our debt of sin, we could never pay. Easter is a fact. It happened. Jesus died. He rose from the dead. He paid our debt. But have you accepted His payment for your debt of sin?
