A call center in Kennesaw that employed 635 people is being shut down this month.
All the Alorica employees at its 2120 Barrett Park Drive facility will be laid off, according to state records.
Records indicate that this is the largest layoff reported to Georgia’s Department of Labor so far in 2018.
“It is always difficult when we need to say goodbye to any of our amazing team members,” Alorica spokeswoman Erica McCarthy wrote in an email Tuesday.

McCarthy, who is based in California, said that the company is “working to retain” about 300 of the employees by offering them positions at a new Marietta location. An address for the new location was not given.
She said that new business in the area allowed them to offer the 300 or so employees a job at the new Marietta location.
“To remain industry leaders, our clients consistently adapt to their ever-changing competitive landscape and evolving customer expectations,” McCarthy said when asked why the Kennesaw location was closing. “As strategic partners to our clients, Alorica adjusts also to most effectively support our clients.”

The workers at that Kennesaw facility “provided customer care work for a telecom/media/entertainment company,” said McCarthy, who declined to specify which company.
She declined to say whether employees getting laid off would be offered severance packages.
The Kennesaw location will remain open and fully staffed until Sept. 17, she said.
