The 76th Venice International Film Festival is organised by La Biennale di Venezia, and runs at Lido di Venezia from 28th August to 7th September 2019. The Festival is officially recognised by the FIAPF (International Federation of Film Producers Association).

The aim of the Festival is to raise awareness and promote international cinema in all its forms as art, entertainment and as an industry, in a spirit of freedom and dialogue. In addition to the sections mentioned in the following paragraphs, the Festival also organises retrospectives and tributes to major figures as a contribution towards a better understanding of the history of cinema.

The line-up includes the following sections: Venezia 76, Out of Competition, Orizzonti, Venice Classics, Sconfini, Biennale College - Cinema, Venice Virtual Reality and a Special Event.

The autonomous and parallel sections, whose line-up is selected in accordance with their own regulations, include the Settimana Internazionale della Critica and the Giornate degli Autori.

Pass holders have their own access to screenings as indicated in the daily programme. Badges are strictly personal and not transferable. Admittance to the screenings is allowed subject to seating availability.

Films screen in their original language with Italian and English subtitles.

Advance sales are available as of the day before the screening at the ticket offices on the Lido and in Venice.
