GLENS FALLS, N.Y. (WRGB) - As a possible impeachment vote looms in Washington protesters are rallying for or against impeachment across the Empire State.

Protesters are braving the cold to make their voices heard from the Catskills to the North Country.

It's a part of a nationwide effort. “Nobody Is Above The law” rallies are in favor of impeachment. But up here, there are also protestors speaking out against impeaching the president. These opposing groups are standing across the street from each other.

The groups in favor of impeachment started their rally at Glens Falls Park and marched up to Rep. Elise Stefanik’s office. The North County congresswoman gained national attention for her role in the house intelligence committee's impeachment hearings.

Right down the street there is a counter rally by the group North Country Deplorables. They don’t believe impeachment is warranted. They were waiting outside Stefanik’s office.

There is a clear divide here on where both sides stand on impeachment.

Glens falls Police are stationed nearby to ensure things don't get out of hand.

Protestors on both sides tell us they want to make sure their opinion is heard.

“We’re here to tell her what’s right. She swore an oath to defend the constitution. The constitution is clear. When Trump calls on a foreign government to interfere in our elections that’s a violation of the constitution. So we’re here to call on her to defend her oath," said Joe Seeman of Ballston Spa.

“If they keep coming by the street and seeing people call on Trump to be impeached and for Stefanik to get out of Congress, then that’s all they know. We stand here as a visual aid to let them know we support trump and Elise Stefanik," added Michael Kibling of South Glens Falls.

We did reach out to Stefanik’s office. They told us she will not comment until after a vote is cast on impeachment. But a spokesperson for the Congresswoman says she will vote no on impeachment.
