ILUMINARTE 2019 PARADE REGISTRATION FORM
REGISTER HERE to participate in the 2nd annual Iluminarte! Magical Light and Bike Parade on Sunday, December 8, 2019 from 4:30-7:30 pm. The parade is free and open to the public.
The schedule is below:
3:30 pm. NHCC Plaza. CABQ Esperanza FREE bike clinic and valet. Get your bikes checked and ready for the parade. This is a great time to light yourself and your bike up, before the parade begins.
4:30 pm: Performance/NHCC Plaza. AirDance New Mexico performance: luminarias cast flickering light that dances across the wintery darkness, promoting warmth, guidance, and community. AirDance explores these themes through the lens of aerial dance. Free, no tickets required.
5 pm: Illuminated Bike Parade. The ¡ILUMINARTE! cyclists, let by Circo Latino and Story Rider students from Dolores Gonzales, Reginald Chavez and Valle Vista Elementary Schools, and the general public proceed on illuminated bikes from NHCC plaza to the luminaria-lit Paseo del Bosque Trail. Cyclists ride to the rear entrance to the BioPark “River of Lights.” The parade is free and open to the public.
5:30 pm. Cyclists park their bikes with a free valet and can then wander the “River of Lights” during Magic Hour. Be sure you buy a ticket for entrance to ROL ahead of time: https://www.cabq.gov/culturalservices/biopark/events/river-of-lights
6 pm: Performance by Circo Latino for the opening of River of Lights.
6:30 (or so): Illuminated Bike Parade returns to Bosque Trail and goes south to Tingley Beach.
6:15 pm: Parade continues from the BioPark to Tingley Beach.
6:30 pm: Poetry Reading at Tingley Beach. ABQ Poet Laureate Michelle Otero with Story Riders from Valle Vista Elementary School. Free and open to the public.
6:45 pm: Illuminated Bike Parade continues back to NHCC and finishes in the luminaria-lit plaza.
7 pm: NHCC Plaza or History/Literary Arts Building. Hot chocolate, biscochitos. Free bike valet.
¡ILUMINARTE! is a one-of-a kind creative partnership between the National Hispanic Cultural Center, the City of Albuquerque, Story Riders, Artful Life, Circo Latino, AirDance New Mexico and the Albuquerque Poet Laureate Program.

Performances at the NHCC (4:30 pm) and Tingley Beach (6:30) are free.
The parade follows the Paseo del Bosque Trail from the NHCC to the BioPark and back between 5 and 7:30.
I must purchase a River of Lights ticket to attend the performance (6 pm) at the Bio Park and have time to wander the park and see the lights.
Without a ticket to River of Lights I will wait for the parade near the entrance of the Botanical Garden on the trail from approximately 5:30 to 6:30.
