Steelhead Valhalla is a remotely located bank-side on the Sustut River upstream from the Skeena River confluence in British Columbia. Over 100 miles from civilization and accessible by plane, the Sustut is the least fished of all the famous Skeena tributaries and is revered trophy fish water with the particularly large Bear River fish at the forefront. Wildlife is prolific with eagles, moose, bears, wolves and grouse roaming the shores. The river originates with the Johansen and Sustut Lakes in the Omineca Mountains, and the Pacific Ocean lies about 275 miles downstream.
The Skeena system is the largest producer of trophy-sized steelhead worldwide with annual runs of 25-40 thousand fish. Over 5 million Pacific salmon make the journey to spawning grounds. Angler’s fish the lower 20 miles of the Sustut, beyond that is protected salmon and steelhead spawning grounds.
Steelhead Valhalla Lodge: 7 waterfront cabins, some with en-suite bathrooms. Plus, a comfortable main lodge and detached bathhouse accommodates a maximum of 12 guests weekly.
Two-handed and single-handed 7-9 weight rods are embraced. Multiple line types will be necessary weekly-Versitips are useful. The weather is unpredictable-layering is imperative & all weather conditions should be anticipated. A complete gear & fly list will be provided from Frontiers upon booking.
