SEATTLE -- Demonstrators took part in impeachment rallies in several Western Washington cities Tuesday, the day before the House of Representatives will vote on impeaching President Donald Trump.

In Seattle, Mayor Jenny Durkan attended a 5 p.m. impeachment rally organized by Seattle Indivisible at the Henry M. Jackson Federal Building on Second Avenue.

"Who is above the law?" Durkan asked the crowd.

"No one!" the crowd chanted back.

Durkan went on to say that impeachment supporters are not driven by politics, but love of country.

"...in America, we do not have kings," Durkan said. "In America, we have laws and institutions and this president has trod on every one. He has said that he cannot be held responsible. But he is wrong."

"...Let's stand with Congress tomorrow and thank them for doing their duty, and then let's make sure the Senate does its," she said.

The Seattle "Nobody Is Above the Law" rally was part of more than 500 "actions" planned nationwide, according to Seattle Indivisible. The organization said that more than 2,200 people registered for the rally prior to the event. The rally included pre-taped statements from Congress members Pramila Jayapal and Adam Smith. It also includes speeches from State Representative Gael Tarleton.

"The mobilization is part of a massive, grassroots effort to ensure Congress holds Donald Trump accountable for using military aid to pressure Ukraine to interfere in our 2020 elections. Protestors will demand that the House of Representatives fulfills its constitutional duty by impeaching Donald Trump and that the Senate remove him from office for attempting to rig the 2020 elections. Congress must show that no one—including the criminal in the White House—is above the law," Seattle Indivisible said in a press release.

According to their website, Seattle Indivisible says they are an all-volunteer organization "contributing our time to help influence our representatives and resist racism, authoritarianism, and corruption in our government."

In Tacoma, demonstrators were greeted with passing car horns after beginning their rally at 5 p.m. at the Federal Courthouse. This "Nobody Is Above the Law" rally was organized by Indivisible Tacoma.

Activists also organized a rally at 5:30 p.m. in West Seattle's Alaska Junction, as well as on Gilman Boulevard in Issaquah.
