Thanassis Stavrakis

Thanassis Stavrakis is the chief photographer of Associated Press in Greece, Cyprus, Albania and North Macedonia, and the artistic director of Athens Photo World.
Since 1992, he has worked as a photojournalist for several Greek photo agencies in Athens, as well as the daily newspaper Ethnos, the Greek weekly magazine Epsilon of Kyriakatiki, and Ta Nea’s Tachydromos magazine. In June 2019 he co-founded Athens Photo World, the first international photojournalism festival in Greece. Since 2018, he teaches news photography at ANT1 Media Lab in Athens, Greece.
Stavrakis graduated from the School of Study and Practice of Photography (EMEF) in Athens.
