8 Day Itinerary

Northeast Highlights 8 day full itinerary breakdown and route map

Day 1

New York to Boston

Our adventure begins as we depart the Big Apple! We’ll make our way to New Haven, the home of Yale University, and arrive later this morning. Here you have the option to grab a meal at Louis’ Lunch, which is the restaurant that lays claim to the United States’ original hamburger! If pizza is more your style, there are plenty of options with famed pizzerias that give New Haven the reputation of being the pizza capital of the country. After lunch we’ll journey on to Boston, arriving late afternoon. This city is famous for Irish pubs, clam chowder, and being the birthplace of the American Revolution! Head out to one of the Irish pubs tonight with your new friends.

Day 2

Boston

The day is yours to spend as you please in Boston. There’s a tonne to see and do, so get out there and make the most of it! Why not walk the Freedom Trail? This 2.5 mile trail stretches through downtown Boston, passing many historically significant sites. You could also tour Fenway Park, or walk across the bridge to Cambridge and check out the famed Harvard and MIT campuses. For beer lovers, take a tour of Sam Adams Brewery, or just hang out in Boston Common, which is the oldest city park in the United States!

Day 3

Boston to The Forks

Farewell Boston, it’s time to hit the road. Enjoy the famous New England scenery as we make our way to Portland, where we’ll arrive late morning. Take some time to stretch your legs and wander through the Old Port area, Fort Allen Park and the Eastern Promenade where you can get views of Casco Bay. Portland was named “America’s foodiest small town” by Bon Appetit, so make sure you get some lunch while we’re here! Visit one of the oldest continuously running farmers markets in the country before we head off. We’ll cruise along the beautiful Route 201 and arrive in The Forks later this afternoon. Later, we have a night of campfires, cabins and home-brewed beers to enjoy.

Day 4

The Forks

Today you have free time! Soak up the great outdoors and take in all the stunning scenery. Two powerful rivers meet in The Forks, making it one of the best places for white water rafting in the region. If you’d rather keep your feet on dry land, there are plenty of self-guided hikes that cater to all fitness levels, only three miles from the Appalachian Trail. Hike your way to Moxie Falls to see one of the highest waterfalls in New England. Tonight, have a relaxing soak in the hot tub before we kick back with some live music at the local brewery.

Day 5

The Forks to Quebec City

Onwards to Quebec! We’ll make tracks this morning and continue along Route 201, stopping for a photo opportunity at Attean Overlook. We’ll arrive into Quebec around lunchtime, where you have the afternoon to enjoy the UNESCO heritage listed Old Town! This is the only city in North America with its original city walls. Grab a bite to eat and practise your French in one of the many cafes, and jump on the funicular at Breakneck Stairs to skip the narrow winding streets between the Upper and Lower town. Check out Cathedral-Basilica of Notre-Dame de Quebec, and get a photo of Chateau Frontenac – one of the most photographed hotels in the country! Tonight we’ll head to the oldest pub in the city and watch some live music.

Day 6

Quebec City to Montreal

Up and at them, today we make our way to Montreal! We’ll depart this morning, and stop for a break at a beautiful lakeside town along the way. Arriving at Montreal Old Port around lunchtime, you have the option of joining a jet boating excursion on the St Lawrence River this afternoon! If that’s not up your alley, see the sights and ride the tallest Ferris wheel in Canada – just keep a tight hold of your camera! Tonight, your guide will take you on a food truck and microbrewery crawl of Montreal. We hope you’re hungry!

Day 7

Montreal

The day is yours! Explore the city by bike, or take your time and wander through the turtle shaped Jardin des Origines. Don’t miss the bizarre architecture of Habitat 67 – this housing complex is always worth a photo! Visit some of the historic churches, and when you’ve worked up an appetite get a few snacks at Jean-Talon Market. Get back to nature at Mont Royal, the small mountain set in the city. This evening you’re free to explore Montreal’s famous food scene, and spend the final night with your new friends as we round off an epic adventure.

Day 8

Montreal

All good things must come to an end! It’s time to pack up your bags and say farewell to the group before we check out. We hope to see you again soon!
