Visiting art professors Amanda Smith and Tonja Torgerson showcase their paintings and prints at USI

June 7, 2019

The University of Southern Indiana Art and Design department presents the exhibition Converters: Work by Amanda Smith and Tonja Torgerson, on display Monday, June 10 through Friday, September 6 at the McCutchan Art Center/Pace Galleries on the USI campus. The exhibition features the creative work of two excellent, mid-career artists. Amanda Smith is a painter and assistant professor of art at Missouri State University in Springfield, Missouri. Tonja Torgerson is a printmaker and visiting assistant professor at Indiana University. Smith and Torgerson's subject matter and artmaking processes are very different from one another, but the visual contrast between well-crafted and conceptually focused bodies of work produces a persuasive show.

The public is invited to the free reception for the exhibit from 2 to 4 p.m. Friday, September 6, at the McCutchan Art Center/Pace Galleries. Light refreshments will be served. The McCutchan Art Center/Pace Galleries are located in the lower level of the Liberal Arts Center on the USI campus.

The exhibit is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday and 1 to 5 p.m. on Sunday. Admission is free and the gallery is open to the public. Call 812-228-5006 or visit USI.edu/liberal-arts/art-center-galleries for more information.
