An Eastern Carolina call center is closing, throwing dozens of workers on the unemployment line.

Alorica says it will shutter it's Jacksonville facility on October 31st.

The 142 employees at the operation on Gum Branch Road were notified of the closing on Wednesday.

Most of the employees are customer service representatives.

Alorica says it is closing the Jacksonville call center "due to business needs and operational efficiencies".
