Please note that due to a mechanical issue, the east elevator inside Carnegie Hall’s main lobby is temporarily out of order. As a result, there is no elevator service to the Parquet or direct access to the east side of the Second Tier. The auditorium will open one hour before the concert to allow ticket holders additional time to reach their seats. While the west elevator is operational, patrons are encouraged to take the stairs. Concertgoers who have purchased tickets with accessible seat locations will be contacted directly by Carnegie Hall. For any additional accessibility questions, please call CarnegieCharge at 212-247-7800.

Mendelssohn’s “Italian” Symphony glitters with urban inspiration, from the brilliant sunshine of Rome to the religious pageantry of Naples. The passionate Piano Concerto No. 2, written for a festival in Birmingham, energized Mendelssohn’s ardent fans in England’s second city. This suave showpiece spotlights the young Canadian pianist Jan Lisiecki, fresh off a recording and tour across Europe with Orpheus. Augmenting this musical cityscape, a world premiere comissioned by Orpheus, from local composer Jessie Montgomery, taps into the rhythms of modern life.
