ATLANTA — Hundreds of people rallied in Buckhead Tuesday night in support of impeaching the president.
The rally coincided with hundreds across the country as the U.S. House of Representatives gets ready to vote Wednesday on whether or not to impeach President Donald Trump.
Channel 2’s Audrey Washington was at the rally Tuesday night outside Georgia Republican Sen. David Perdue’s office near the corner of Piedmont and Peachtree roads.
Washington said the crowd of people who showed up continued to grow by the hour, ultimately totaling more than 300 people who lined the streets calling for the impeachment of Trump.
Many held signs and got plenty of support from passersby.

“He is literally destroying the Constitution and it’s time to stand up and do what is right for the country,” said Audra Daughtry.
Not everyone who showed up was there to protest the president. Washington spoke with one man who ended up going head-to-head with a protester.
“Everything is great, and God bless America,” the supporter said right before a man pushed a sign in front of his face. The man was in a truck and drove off before Washington could get his name.
Washington called Perdue’s office to get reaction to the rally outside his office, but the senator had no comment.
“I think the impeachment is a farce. I think it’s put together. They’re trying to devalue the president from being reelected,” one Trump supporter said.
“I think the country is just in the tank right now and he needs to be removed in order to have the country we used to have and to save our democracy,” protester Carol Stevens said.
The protesters did not block traffic. Washington counted about 30 Atlanta police officers on hand to keep everything in order.
