Kasey Golding

2020 Fulbright Scholar

Kasey Golding

Kasey Golding has been selected for a Fulbright Research Scholarship to study International Relations in Hungary.

The Fulbright U.S. Student Program offers research, study and teaching opportunities in more than 140 countries to recent graduates and graduate students. Administered in the U.S. by the Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, the Fulbright program was established in 1946 to promote international goodwill through education and cultural exchange.

Earning a Fulbright award is the culmination of over five years’ worth of working, growing, and learning. For me, as a second time applicant, it also represents the power of resilience and determination. I will forever be grateful to the University of Louisville for giving me the tools I needed to actualize a dream I’ve had since I first set foot on campus."

Inspired By

First and foremost, I would like to thank Julie Bunck for always leaving her door open for me when I needed someone to talk to (or when I needed last minute help drafting essays). She has become both a mentor and a friend over the course of my time as a political science student. Luke Buckman and the entire Honors Program staff have also proven to be an unwavering source of guidance and positivity since I first arrived at UofL. This program played a huge role in shaping my undergraduate experience and Luke was the person who pushed me to take the first step in applying for a Fulbright Scholarship. Finally, Patricia Condon and Bethany Smith have given me straightforward and honest advice on how to improve my applications since my very first meeting with them. They have dedicated themselves to helping UofL students achieve their dreams and were pivotal in helping me survive the grueling Fulbright application process.
