One Year Later: What Has Been Done to Protect Our Democracy?

Web-Jan-6-Meta-C1

We all remember where we were on January 6, 2021. We watched in horror as the crowd, fueled and supported by Trump, overwhelmed the Capitol police, broke windows, and forced lawmakers to flee for their lives.

But since that deadly insurrection, not a single bill has been signed into law to protect our democracy and our freedom to vote.

When the insurrection failed, Republicans across the country used Trump’s Big Lie to suppress the vote by passing 34 bills in more than a third of states that make it more difficult for eligible Americans, particularly voters of color, to cast their ballots.

The stakes could not be higher when it comes to preserving our democracy.

The House of Representatives has done its job by passing legislation to protect our freedom to vote and stop future presidents from abusing their power. Now, it’s time for the Senate to stop letting the Jim Crow filibuster stand in the way of protecting our democracy.

Take Action

Send a pre-written email to your senators now, urging them to pass the Protecting Our Democracy Act, the Freedom to Vote Act, and the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act.

Tell them: We can’t let the filibuster stand in the way of protecting our democracy.

Want to do even more? In a few clicks, you can call your senator’s office and tell them that as a constituent, you expect them to do their duty and protect our democracy.
