Professor and Bestselling Author, Global Expert in Technology and Business at New York University (NYU)

Arun Sundararajan is the Harold Price Professor of Entrepreneurship and Professor of Technology, Operations and Statistics at New York University’s (NYU) Stern School of Business, and affiliated with many of NYU’s interdisciplinary research centers. An internationally recognized expert on artificial intelligence governance and digital strategy, his best-selling and award-winning book, “The Sharing Economy,” published by the MIT Press, has been translated into Japanese, Korean, Mandarin Chinese, Portuguese and Vietnamese.

Arun’s research studies how digital technologies transform business, government and civil society, with a recent focus on the regulation of artificial intelligence, generative AI and platform-driven change, digital strategy, market power, and the digital future of work. He has published numerous scientific papers in peer-reviewed academic journals and conferences, and op-eds in outlets that include The New York Times, The Financial Times, TIME, The Guardian, Wired, Japan Times, Le Monde and El Pais.  His scholarship has been recognized by nine Best Paper awards, two Google Faculty awards, an Axiom Best Business Books Award, and a Thinkers50 Award. He has given hundreds of keynote and plenary talks at forums that include the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in Davos, the World Government Summit, the Wuzhen Summit, the Global Partnership on AI Summit, and SXSW Interactive. He has testified and provided expert input to the United States Congress, the European Parliament, the United Nations, the Government of India  and numerous regulators globally. He is a widely sought-after commentator by top media platforms. 


Arun is a member of the World Economic Forum’s AI Governance Alliance, a member of the Carnegie Council’s AI and Equality advisory board and serves as a board member and advisor to numerous organizations, ranging from startups to Fortune 100s. He teaches in executive education programs in the United States, Europe and Asia, focusing primarily on AI, platforms and governance. He is a frequent angel investor.
