AG Bailey: Planned Parenthood’s Days in MO Are Numbered

Washington, D.C. – The State of Missouri has filed a lawsuit against the nation’s largest abortion business for trafficking minors out of state to obtain abortions without parental consent. The charges brought by Attorney General Andrew Bailey follow the release of a video where a Planned Parenthood of the Great Plains employee offered to help a man transport a 13-year-old girl to a Kansas Planned Parenthood facility, saying, “We never tell the parents anything. She’s an adult in our clinics.”

Kelsey Pritchard, state public affairs director for SBA Pro-Life America shared the organization’s response:

“In funneling billions of dollars to Democrats in power over the years, Planned Parenthood has long believed the rules don’t apply to them. The Democrat Party continuously enables the abortion industry’s egregious legal violations and threats to parental rights. Joe Biden is focused on unlimited, unregulated abortion on demand in all 50 states and has redirected millions of taxpayer dollars intended to support moms and families to Planned Parenthood. Gov. Gavin Newsom runs ads in pro-life states so more 13-year-old girls will be trafficked to California by their abusers for abortion. Gov. Pritzker’s state of Illinois is considering a bill to jail parents who try to protect their underage daughters from predatory abortionists.

“We applaud Attorney General Bailey for defending Missouri girls and their parents from a predatory industry willing to break the law to make a buck.”

On X this morning, AG Bailey said, “This is the beginning of the end for Planned Parenthood in Missouri” and characterized the lawsuit as a “multi-year campaign” to drive the abortion business from the state because of its disregard for the laws:

  • In 2018, following at least a half-decade of health-code violations, Planned Parenthood’s facility in Columbia was shut down after staff admitted to having used moldy abortion equipment on women for months.
  • Also in 2018, Planned Parenthood physicians conceded in open court that, for at least 15 years, the organization failed to comply with state law requiring physicians performing abortions to file reports when women experience medical complications from abortions.
  • In 2020, the Administrative Hearing Commission determined that even though Missouri law at the time required that the same physician who performs an abortion be the one to notify the woman of the risks of abortion, physicians at Planned Parenthood were not doing so.
