On March 5, 2024, Alabama held a Republican primary election for the Chief Justice position on the Alabama Supreme Court. They are competing to fill the seat currently held by Chief Justice Tom Parker who is retiring due to reaching the state’s mandatory retirement age. Justice Sarah Stewart defeated former Alabama state senator Bryan Taylor in the primary and will advance to the general election on November 5, 2024.
