Public Charter Schools in Alabama
In 2015, the Alabama Legislature passed the School Choice and Student Opportunity Act, enabling public charter schools in Alabama.
There are currently 14 public charter schools in Alabama serving approximately 5,600 students.
These 14 schools are located in 8 counties across 10 cities.
The goal of Alabama Families for Great Schools is to connect those 5,600 families with state and local policymakers to ensure that decision-makers understand the needs of Alabama public charter schools.
Who We Are
Alabama Families for Great Schools is a 501(c)4 nonprofit organization founded in 2022 to connect Alabama public charter school stakeholders with policymakers. We are a growing movement committed to bringing high-quality public school options to every Alabama student.
