Play-by-play commentator

Roy Philpott joined ESPN as a play-by-play announcer in 2013, calling college football, basketball and baseball games.

Prior to ESPN, Philpott served as a lead publisher for Fox Sports, which included the launch and development of two of the largest team-specific web sites in the Scout.com family of networks. He also served as a radio host on a variety of stations in South Carolina since 2003, most recently with 105.5 The Roar in Clemson, S.C.

Philpott was designated the lead play-by-play announcer for WLOS in Asheville, N.C. starting in 2008. While there, he called numerous high school and college football games, in addition to minor league baseball for the ABC affiliate. During that same time period, he served as the voice for Clemson baseball and Clemson women’s basketball on the radio side as well, while also hosting numerous pre- and post-game shows for football and men’s basketball.

Originally from Columbia, S.C., he now resides now in Greenville, S.C., after receiving his Bachelors of Science in Computer Engineering from Clemson University.
