The 2023 Alabama Kids Count Data Book is here!
Every year, VOICES for Alabama’s Children releases the Alabama Kids Count Data Book, which is considered the most reliable source of research on child well-being for all of Alabama’s 67 counties. The Data Book has been a crucial tool for 30 years, providing both a benchmark and a roadmap for assessing how children are faring. It is used to raise awareness of children’s issues, highlight areas of need, prioritize child well-being, and inform decision-making at the state and local levels.
This year’s Data Book provides a retrospective view of 30 years of Alabama Kids Count, reflecting on a journey that has been marked by resilience, progress, and hope toward a brighter future where every child in Alabama is nurtured and valued. However, the retrospective assessment is only a part of the picture. Looking toward the future, we need to assess the existing issues and identify new, emerging issues that will require innovative solutions to ensure our children are doing well.
