Kid Governor Cristiano ran on a platform of promoting physical activity among kids. In February, he launched his Getting Fit 4 Fun video series which includes videos about physical fitness, physical activities, interviews with professionals, and student-submitted videos. Watch his welcome video!
5th Graders: Enter Kid Governor Cristiano’s Poster Contest!

Cristiano invited 5th graders to submit artwork that answered the question: “In what ways did you and your family stay physically active?” Finalists when selected will receive free passes to visit Connecticut’s Old State House, and their posters will be shared in schools and facilities all around the state. The poster contest is a collaboration between The Connecticut Democracy Center, the Department of Children and Families, and CT Family Day.
Inauguration Day 2024
On Friday, January 19, 2024, Connecticut’s Kid Governor-Elect Cristiano Almeida and his Cabinet were officially sworn into office on Inauguration Day! Connecticut 5th graders, teachers, and community members were invited to watch live online as 2023 Kid Governor Ellie Mendez delivered her Farewell Address and Cristiano began his term with his oath of office and Inaugural Address.

Kid Governor Cristiano and his Cabinet are hard at work on their platforms as their 2024 term gets underway. In February, they launched their blog where they will post updates on their work and ways 5th graders can support their platforms in their own communities. Visit their blog regularly for new posts!
Meet the
2024 Kid Governor and Cabinet!
On November 21, 2023, The Connecticut Democracy Center in residence at Connecticut’s Old State House announced that Cristiano Almeida was elected by the state’s 5th graders to serve as the 2024 Connecticut’s Kid Governor! Cristiano’s Cabinet – the six final candidates from the Statewide Election – will meet throughout 2024 to advise Cristiano, discuss how they can support his campaign platform, and collaborate as they advance their own three-point platforms.
