Over the next decade we are committed to raising the bar of this promise, while also elevating the level of our hospitality, amenities, and services from arrival through après to better reflect the on-mountain experience.

Continuous Snowmaking Upgrades

We invest in our snowmaking operations every single year at Sunday River. With one of the largest and most powerful snowmaking systems in North America and a dedicated team of snow experts, we're able to deliver the most dependable snow in New England for our guests. We've been hard at work building a new booster pumphouse on North Peak that, once completed, is the first step towards expanding our snowmaking capacity in Jordan Bowl and beyond. The Jordan 8 is Just the Beginning

The Jordan 8, the first eight-pack bubble chairlift in Maine, is in the process of coming to life at Jordan Bowl. Built to withstand wind events and harsh weather as well as provide a fast and comfortable trip up the mountain, the Jordan 8 is the beginning of multiple lift upgrades over the coming decade.

Sunday River’s growth was driven by the thousands of guests who chose to make this place a part of their lives. We want to help give everyone who considers Sunday River their happy place the opportunity to spend more time here, and will support development and ownership opportunities from the valley to the village.

Sunday River is inclusive, welcoming all who come and share a love for this place and the experiences found here.  We are a bridge joining multiple communities as diverse as our peaks and will foster this shared connection between everyone who lives, visits, works, or vacations in our beautiful corner of the state.

Community Programs

In the fall of 2022, Sunday River, the River Fund Maine, and the Sunday River Ski and Snowboard Club launched the Community Access Pass. The Community Access Pass offers daily access to the Sunday River slopes for students in our local communities who meet certain economic qualifiers. As of September 30, 2022, over 200 students have already signed up for the pass. Community initiatives such as this one are crucial in getting local kids outdoors and we are grateful to support the River Fund Maine in this endeavor. 

Team Member Support

Here at Sunday River, we would be nothing without our phenomenal team members. We are invested in keeping good people around and have expanded our team housing options to meet different needs. We offer dorm-style housing for many seasonal team members and offer apartment-style housing for those looking for longer-term solutions. In addition to housing, we are expanding transportation options for our team, starting with the purchase of 5 passenger buses that will pick up and drop off at central locations throughout Bethel and the surrounding region.

We are more than a ski mountain. We will be a thriving resort offering experiences and adventures across all seasons through a combination of the natural assets of our region, the amenities in our local area, our on-mountain activities, our resort lodging and facilities, and our family of owners and guests.

Sunday River Golf Club

The purchase of the Sunday River Golf Club in 2019 was a significant step forward for the resort. As the owner of one of Maine's premiere golf courses, we are proud to provide the signature Boyne Golf experience to our guests.

Sunday River Outfitters

Offering kayaking, archery, and stand-up paddleboarding classes during the summer months at both the Grand Summit and the Jordan Hotel, Sunday River Outfitters brings quintessential Western Maine experiences to visitors of the area. 

Hiking Trails & Scenic Lift Rides

The mountains of Western Maine should be experienced in all seasons. During the summer and fall, our patrol team works hard to maintain our hiking trail system throughout our eight peaks. We also offer lift rides on the Chondola during the summer and fall for another enjoyable way to experience the mountain in the off-season.

In-Town Activities

We are incredibly lucky to be located next to Bethel, a bustling small town with plenty to do all year-round. Check out the bowling alley, hike a local trail, catch a film at the Gem Theater... the list goes on. For more info on our local area, click here.

Sunday River is committed to protecting our natural assets as well as the sustainability of our business to ensure both will thrive over the long term, and are aiming for a net zero carbon footprint by 2030.

Our Sustainability Efforts

As a four-season resort, sustainability is at the forefront of our business decisions.

In January 2022, Kate Matthews joined the Sunday River team as our Sustainability Coordinator. Kate immediately made a huge impact on our operations, from implementing the Terracycle recycling program across the resort to working with our hotels to participate in the Clean the World soap recycling program, and forming a sustainability committee at Sunday River dubbed the "Green Team". Kate's leadership and commitment to making our resort a better place have helped us make huge strides as a company.

The Forever Project

Launched in 2021, the Forever Project is Boyne Resort's pledge to reduce carbon emissions to net zero throughout all North American operations by 2030. Human driven climate change is an urgent issue for the world and most certainly for the snowsports industry, and Boyne is committed to being a leader in the industry in regard to long-term sustainability.
