At The Fund for the School District of Philadelphia, we believe that all of Philadelphia’s public school children deserve the opportunity to become a part of a strong, productive, and sustainable future for our city.
We identify, coordinate and connect philanthropic resources—through effective public-private partnerships—to leverage investments in local public schools. We target strategic priorities that have an impact on the success of students regardless of their zip code, family income, or circumstances.

the year active fundraising began
Working with the Superintendent, the executive team of skilled educators, and school leadership, we help set funding priorities and manage philanthropic contributions, directing crucial resources to the needs of Philadelphia’s public schools and school children to improve educational services and academic achievement.
Our work to create a welcoming, enriching, and equitable learning environment for children and families in public schools is critical for developing a productive workforce and enhancing Philadelphia’s future. Targeted investments in public schools offer the opportunity to advance learning outcomes for all students.
Meet the TeamOur first major priority was to raise $7 million to support equity goals in Early Education. Our fund helped to establish libraries in every K-3 classroom in the Philadelphia School District, and supported educators’ goals to have all children reading on grade level by 4th grade. Join our corps of committed donors who care deeply about the quality of public education and the success of our children!
This pilot project led by the Office of Grant Development will build fundraising capacity in 5-10 volunteer schools as a part of an effort to create greater equity in philanthropy across the district. We seek to empower school leadership and communities to prioritize needs that will help foster equitable learning spaces for all students, especially students of color, students with disabilities and English language learners (ELL).
