Home for the Holidays Stream Salutes Stars’ Festive Traditions

Holiday spirit was all around when viewers tuned into Home for the Holidays, a joyous, star-studded celebration of holiday traditions produced by and benefiting Broadway Cares. The stream raised an impressive $126,141.

From the heart of South Africa with the cast of The Lion King to the snowy shores of Newfoundland with the cast of Come from Away, some of Broadway’s most celebrated stars shared songs based on traditions from their homes and from where their shows are set.

The show was hosted and conceived by Jelani Remy from Broadway’s Ain’t Too Proud – The Life of Times of The Temptations. The evening included a series of spectacular performances, from the legendary André De Shields sharing a jazzy rendition of “You’re A Mean One, Mr. Grinch” to Tony Award nominee Carolee Carmello decorating her home while belting Mame’s “Need a Little Christmas.

The six merry murderesses from Chicago (Donna Marie Asbury, Gabriela Garcia, Carly Hughes, Arian Keddel, Mary Claire King and Tonya Wathen) shared a dangerously sultry rendition of “Santa Baby,” and Tony winner Lena Hall warmed hearts with a stirring performance of “Imagine” by John Lennon. Fans experienced the magic of NYC at Christmastime from the comfort of their homes with a festive tour through the theater district.
