NORC University of Chicago completed a draft of its study funded by the U.S. Department of Labor on children performing hazardous labor harvesting cocoa for companies like Nestle, Cargill, Mars, Mondelez, and Hershey. IRAdvocates obtained a copy from a confidential source. The final report should be released in late June. The draft report demonstrates with devastating detail that, after years of false promises by these companies to stop themselves from profiting from child abuse, there has been a dramatic increase, 2.1 million children, harvesting cocoa for these companies and others.
