Dance Lab New York’s More to the Pointe Labfocuses on a question we have seen emerge in the dance field:
Who gets to dance en pointe?

We were proud to partner with Chautauqua Institution to offer a Lab for three choreographers exploring the creation of work on pointe with dancers who are male-presenting, male-identifying,transmasculine, and/or whose assumed gender is male.

In a cultural moment when many artists are breaking new ground in ballet, this Lab provides a platform for choreographers interested in answering this question in new ways.

“While considering dancers for this unique residency, it became obvious that the extraordinarily talented artists at Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo and Ballet22 would be able to provide invaluable insights and inform the creative process with their undeniable skill and experience.”
— Josh Prince, DLNY Founding Artistic Director

This Lab Cycle is made possible with generous support from the Harkness Foundation for Dance.
