Because insurance companies have created “networks” that limit competition and raise prices. Hospitals have created hospital systems that limit competition. Some hospitals have been buying up physician practices, urgent care and Surgi-centers that result in higher prices.

Because hospitals have no price transparency. Multiple doctors send bills in addition to hospital bills and there is no upfront notice of these charges. Many of these doctors are employed by private equity firms. They purposely do not participate in any insurance network. Patients are involuntarily required to use their services and must pay whatever bill they are sent. It is a monopoly practice.

Because insurance contracts provided by employers are 1 year contracts that only renew if employment continues. Insurance should be non-cancellable and last for a lifetime.
