In today’s episode of The Jolt, Kira Taylor takes a look at the expected trends for #greenhydrogen production, plus Canada tables cash for heat pumps. The big story today: Hydrogen production is expected to undergo a major transition from using fossil fuels to using renewable energy. Francisco Boshell, head of innovation and end use decarbonisation at the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), joins The Jolt to discuss the future trends. “By 2030, the penetration or the share of renewable-based hydrogen—green hydrogen—should be at least 30%. So around 50-60 million tonnes of green hydrogen per year,” – Francisco Boshell, International Renewable Energy Agency Listen now: https://lnkd.in/dZvsRkra

💡 Access to clean cooking is crucial for universal #energy access, livelihoods, human health, and the environment. 2.3 billion people still lacked access to clean cooking in 2021, largely in sub-Saharan #Africa and #Asia. With the risk of 1.9 billion people still lacking access to clean cooking by 2030, the world must step up its efforts. Ahead of International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA)'s participation in the International Energy Agency (IEA) Summit on Clean Cooking in Africa on 14 May, it is important to emphasize the findings from a series of virtual knowledge exchanges on #renewables-based clean cooking solutions that was convened by IRENA, and published in a brief. The brief highlights that achieving universal access to clean cooking requires: ➡political will and dedicated policies ➡tackling end-user affordability ➡accelerated finance from public and private sources ➡scaling up proven #renewables-based clean cooking solutions ➡collaboration for exchanging knowledge and best practices.
