About the Author

Kathleen George was born in Richmond, Virginia, where she now resides with her husband and two chipmunks of her very own, Emma and Max. She graduated from the University of Virginia in 2005 before pursuing a master's degree in French from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2007, and a law degree from the University of Richmond in 2012. When not negotiating contracts, she can be found playing Legos or dress-up, and writing children's books based on her real-life experiences as a mom.

A self-taught artist rooted in the wilds of Oregon, Louisa Mae works in many different mediums ranging from traditional art to detailed digital paintings. She is always seeking new and exciting ways to be inspired by the world around her.

Ever since I received this delightful book for my blog (Oh Bless It!) by Kathleen George, my own children have repeatedly asked me to read it to them at bedtime. The illustrations by Louisa Mae go perfectly with this rhythmic tale of imagination.

It's the classic issue of bedtime with kiddos far from interested in having their adventures halted with the silly notion of sleeping. But Mama Chipmunk reassures Chester with encouragement for having adventures that are much more worthwhile than anything he's ever considered before.

All of the adventures that Chester is wanting to have amount to finding a sword, building a rocket, and playing kazoo. He soon learns that the greatest adventures are those that he hasn't even considered. Having a dragon for a tour guide, he can meet a stripeless tiger in Japan, talented purple elephants in France, and a rainbow-colored polar bear in Mexico - and everything in between!

I highly recommend this book. For any child with a wild imagination, for the creative spirits, and for the parents who want to awaken the dreams in their children - or reawaken in themselves - this is a great addition for your child's library. "Chester Chipmunk Will NOT Sleep" is a dream within a dream.

Chester Chipmunk Will NOT Sleep is a story written by Kathleen George and illustrated by Louisa Mae. Chester Chipmunk is an absolutely adorable sleepy chipmunk who loves in a tree in the nook of Cherry Hill. It's bedtime, but Chester just does not want to go to bed because he wants to stay up and play. Who as parents has not had a child who tried to get out of going to bed at bedtime? This beautifully illustrated story shows Chester that he can have many adventures while he sleeps because he will be able to dream. The ability to dream makes him a lucky boy, but he can only experience this magic when he goes to sleep. I love this and think this would be a perfect bedtime story for any little one who might claim that they are not ready for bedtime.

This wonderful book quickly became a favorite in our house! My kids love the pictures and silly adventures! Also, it is one of the few books parents won’t mind reading over and over!
