Past/current grantees & projects
The Virginia Tech Libraries are pleased to announce our fifth year of a faculty incentive program – Open Education Initiative Faculty Grants – to encourage the use, creation, and adaptation of openly licensed information resources to support our students’ learning. This effort supports Virginia Tech faculty who are interested in further sharing their original works as open educational resources (OER) as part of the university’s land grant mission. This effort also supports faculty who are interested in pursuing adaptation of open education resources and new forms of digital scholarship as alternatives to traditional textbooks and homework software access codes.
2023-24 Deadlines: Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. Awards are anticipated to be announced within four weeks after submission. Projects are expected to be completed within 12 months or as otherwise discussed. Preapplication consultations are required. Please contact arwalz@vt.edu or book an appointment here.
Virginia Tech faculty are invited to apply to a competitive grant process that will award up to $3,000 to faculty or faculty groups who submit successful proposals outlining efforts to adopt a new curricular resource strategy. Questions? Please contact Anita Walz arwalz@vt.edu or 540-231-2204

Application Process
Elements of a complete proposal packet include the following FOUR items:
- Online application (includes project narrative)
- Signed letter of agreement
- Current Syllabus
- Governance-approved syllabus and coversheet (available from: registrar@vt.edu)
- (optional) Sample of materials already created on which you plan to build your project
Before applying, we recommend that you first download and review items 1, 2 and the Grants Information document.
After completing the online form, please attach and send the remaining three (or four) documents to: arwalz@vt.edu with the subject line: Grant Application
