The Platform

Torque3 is developing a neurorehabilitation solution that has shown in early testing to result in significantly better recovery outcomes.

A wealth of research over the last 30 years has strongly indicated that stroke recovery can be significantly improved through immersive stimulation and robotic assistance.

Our system simply leverages this research with an approach of uncompromising design and implementation.

Deep Immersion

The Torque3 platform's most important advantage is this intense, deep immersion used in task-oriented therapy which enhances neuroplasticity. This experience-dependent, multimodal integration engages functional brain regions including the sensory, association and motor cortices.

Advanced Robotics

The platform is a robotic assisted simulator where the patient works their entire body along with all their senses and cognitive abilities during treatment.

Torque3's advanced robotics assist impaired patients' accessibility into and out of the platform as it kneels forward and extends its seat to allow for ease of entry and exit.

Real-Time Data

Truly objective progression data with well over 20 million points of data recorded per session. Heart rate, pulmonary rate and all the robotic sensors record every aspect of applied force along with patient decisions and deviations from nominal. Post-session, this data will be processed through an algorithm to provide a comprehensive comparative analysis.

Technology

Our approach has been to use a suite of simulation technologies that operate as an integrated system using our proprietary hardware and software. The entire platform is computer controlled and all mechanical functions are robotic.

Deeply Immersive Interactive Experience

Beyond what the rider sees and hears, they feel all the subtle g-forces from each turn or change in speed, the bumps and even the texture of the ground is felt through their body, the pedaling and the steering. Feedback from our servo motor robotics is so responsive, riders even feel weight and inertia in the simulation. When riders ease off the pedaling or roll downhill with simulated wind, they are convinced they are coasting! All this is to say is that it is so immersive, riders don't feel like they are on a stationary cycle but rather riding the real thing.

Task Oriented Therapy

Research on task-oriented therapy utilizing virtual reality and robotic assistance has shown that tasks that are continually challenging and continually novel with meaningful rewards result in the most successful treatments. We simply build on this foundation with the Torque3 platform using our patent-pending approach to task-oriented therapy.

Asymmetrical Compensation

By interlinking the controls regulated by the unimpaired side, the motor system instantly compensates for lateral imbalance between limbs, delivering a smooth experience as if the patient were not impaired. Our goal is to simply make the patient feel whole again during therapy.

Benefits

Torque3's approach has yielded unique advantages which give us some remarkable benefits

Patients

Patients should achieve significantly better outcomes and even though those patients will have individualized treatment plans, they can receive the same quality of care regardless of where they go.

Caregivers

Caregivers will see reduced mental health issues with patients and improved compliance by making therapy the best part of everybody's day. All with empirical data showing exactly how the patient is progressing.

Therapists/Clinics

Therapists will be less prone to injury on the job while reducing tedious tasks out on the floor and behind the desk, instead focusing on rewarding, skills-based work. Clinics will be able to double if not triple the number of patients they can service without any increase in staff or expanding their floorspace.
