The Bachelor's of Public Health will prepare you to be a change-maker across careers in public health, health education, community health, worksite health, global health, and other health-related professions.
- Public Health majors learn the science of public health and health behavior and they get hands-on experience designing health programs to improve the health and well-being of individuals and communities everywhere.

The BS in Public Health requires 54-57 core semester hours. The following 30 hours of coursework are required of all public health majors:
- HP 191: Personal and Community Health
- PH 195: Foundations of Public Health
- PH 300: Environmental Health
- HP 312: Behavior Aspects of Weight Management
- ES 350: Research Methods in HESRM
- PH 352: Basic Epidemiology
- HP 440: Behavioral Aspects of Physical Activity
- PH 528: Public Health Policy
- IMC/Jour 585: Health Communications (Consumer Communications)
- PH 595: Human Health and Illness
In addition to the 30-hour P.H. core curriculum, public health majors who select the community health promotion emphasis must complete the following 24-27 hours of coursework:
- PH 305: Program Planning and Evaluation (3 hours)
- PH 319: Global Health (3 hours)
- PH 391: Special Topics in Health (3-6 hours)
- PH 470: Practical Applications of Health Promotion (3-6 hours)
In addition to the 30 hours of P.H. core curriculum, public health majors who select the health science studies emphasis must complete the following 42 hours of coursework:

- Bisc 206: Anatomy and Physiology I (4 hours)
- Bisc 207: Anatomy and Physiology II (4 hours)

Offering a joint B.S. plus MPH degree (4+1) provides public health majors the opportunity to progress through a bachelor’s and master’s degree more quickly and at less cost than if they were to pursue these degrees separately.
