This list of the best current African American TV series features a blend of old favorites and new shows. The best Black TV shows of 2020 include old favorites like Empire and How to Get Away with Murder. The latter wraps up its six-season run this spring. Exciting shows like The Chi, Atlanta, and Black Monday will also air new episodes in 2020.
We can also look forward to several new shows from Tyler Perry, who inked a deal with BET in 2019 to create four new series. Both The Oval and Sistas premiered in 2019 and will continue airing new episodes this year. The Oval is set in the White House and Sistas is about a group of single Black female friends. Tyler’s other new series Ruthless and Bruh do not have an official release date just yet.Â
