Department of Animal Science faculty recognized for teaching excellence
Tryon Wickersham, Ph.D., professor of animal nutrition and associate head for research, has been honored with a 2024 Presidential Professor for Teaching Excellence Award, while Andy Herring ’94, Ph.D., a John K. Riggs ’41 Beef Cattle Professor and interim associate head for AgriLife Extension in the department, has been honored with a University Professorships for Undergraduate Teaching Excellence award.
Unveiling the economic influence of Texas’ horse industry
Armed with fresh, long-awaited data, the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service horse specialists in the Texas A&M Department of Animal Science are actively strategizing ways to cater to the diverse needs of horse owners and enthusiasts, spanning various equestrian activities. Chelsie Huseman, Ph.D., one of two AgriLife Extension horse specialists in the Texas A&M College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, said they will use the extensive Texas data on horse industry impacts, involvement and economic contributions to guide education and outreach.
