You have a team of public speakers to lead. What’s the best way to make sure they’re successful?
As Simon Sinek says, "leading with the WHY not the WHAT." Too often we build the deck and craft the message off of the presentation. Sometimes it is better to craft the story BEFORE crafting the presentation and making sure to lead with the why so that people connect emotionally to the heart of the presentation. Making sure each speaker is connected to the mission and heart of the topic or engagement is critical. Furthermore, building your team up, encouraging them to find their true voice and offering practice is also helpful. Tonal fluctuation in the presentation is critical, as a monotone voice can make people's eyes glaze over. Our tone changes when we are recalling something profound, so memories and story telling is great.

This Modern Love

This is my first written publication and I am very proud of its depth and personal nature. I have found that writing about my illness as well as the struggles of veterans can sometimes cause backlash or fear and stigmatization.
Still, I am choosing to post this to my professional profile, because I do feel that my passion, sincerity, heart and conviction truly give me my literary talent.
We should all document and reflect on the truth regardless of how it is seen.
