As we approach the important April 19 meeting of the D9+ group, it's time to emphasize the importance of digital competitiveness and advanced connectivity in the region. Under the shadow of the European Parliament elections in June 2024, our message is clear: Europe must prioritize innovation over regulation. Our five key policy demands are: 🔹 Accelerate the Digital Single Market: Ensure a consistent, coherent implementation of digital regulations to unlock the full potential of the Digital Single Market. 🔹 Incentivize investment in advanced connectivity: Modernize telecom regulations to support investments in 5G standalone, fiber, and the upcoming 6G technologies. 🔹 Differentiate regulation of B2B and consumer technologies: Tailor regulations to address market failures and risks, recognizing the dynamics of B2B and consumer markets. 🔹 Foster a supportive policy environment: Encourage policies that enable trusted companies to flourish in Europe. 🔹 Prepare for the quantum and AI eras: Promote early-stage quantum experimentation and AI integration, ensuring Europe leads in these transformative technologies. Trust Digital Lab in Diepsloot. 21 talented youngsters (aged 9-19) who completed 18 hours of AI training at the Digital Lab, showcased their innovative and inspiring ideas like ✔AI-powered solutions to combat wildlife poaching 🦏 ✔Managing swaying effects in eco-brick hotels 🏨 ✔AI-assisted surgeries and robotic homework helpers 🤖 There were also discussions around AI in space exploration which were truly captivating! 🌌 🙌 A special shoutout to our hands-on volunteers, including Hossam Kandeel, VP & Head of Global Customer Unit MTN at Ericsson Middle East and Africa, and Gary Woolley, Chief Commercial Officer at Comsol, for their dedication in fostering a culture of learning and innovation.
