Today, we're meeting Ono Tsugunori, COO/CFO of Phase One Japan, formed in December 2015 by merging Mamiya Digital Imaging and Phase One. As a key figure in the company's leadership, Ono shares the unique journey and vision of Phase One Japan, why Japan was chosen as the hub for lens manufacturing and his personal experience in leading a global company.‬‬‬‬‬ 🎌Ono, tell us shortly about Phase One Japan and how it has evolved throughout the years. Phase One Japan has grown by adding product lines including IQ4 in 2019 and then RS shutters, iXM series cameras, iXH series cameras in 2022. From July 2023, Phase One Japan has become the only one production site for Phase One Global. 🏭 Saku in Nagano (Japan) has a long history and strong culture of precision opto-mechanical manufacturing. What other factors make Japan an ideal location for Phase One's production facility in Saku, Nagano? Nagano has a long history in the manufacturing of precision equipment, optical lenses and cameras. Surrounded by Japan Alps mountains and rich in fresh water and clean air, Nagano is well suited for precision opto-mechanical manufacturing industry. People in Nagano including Saku generally have strong patience and concentration and people’s attitude towards exploring sophistication in making products makes the area suited for the industry. 🔍Can you share some future projects that you are working on that will shape the future of imaging technology? To further improve our precision technology, we recently implemented new collimator and built new metric calibration lab. With these new instrument and facility, Phase One Japan will be in a better position to serve ever increasing customer demand for higher precision. 🌍 In your experience, what has been the most rewarding aspect of leading a global company? A company like Phase One operating globally provides lots of opportunities of communicating with people with different cultures and languages. Having dialogues with those people outside of Japan allows me to think out of my echo chamber, which enriches me in the way of thinking and understanding something new to me. 🕰️ How do you spend your time when you're not at work? I enjoy doing free public services for people needing support. This year in Japan individual income tax filing season started from February 16th and lasts until March 15th and during this one-month period, local tax offices are busy and filled with taxpayers filing their tax returns. As a member of Saku Certified Public Tax Accountant Association, I spent one day at Saku Tax Office supporting taxpayers prepare their tax returns and file their returns.📝🤝 #PhaseOne #career

Face to face the future and heritage, it was a great opportunity for me to digitally preserve one of the oldest and largest archaeological monuments in the UAE: Al Hili grand tomb, dating back to the Bronze Age, specifically to the Umm al-Nar era, which spanned from 2700 to 2000 BC. The engraving depicts two humans holding hands between two oryx, engaging in a contemporary abstract visual dialogue, as if it is an artwork done by a master contemporary artist. This monument has been reconstructed according to its original plan and stands as a testament to the rich history of Al Ain city in the UAE. Digitally preserving this location using state-of-the-art imaging technology—a 150-megapixel, 16-bit image—is a crucial step towards ensuring that this historical site is protected and accessible for thousands of years to come. Meet Dorthe Rennes, our Order Desk Coordinator at Phase One, who brings an impressive 24 years of dedication to her role. 🌟Dorthe, tell us briefly about yourself and your role in the order desk team.     I’m Dorthe and I’ve been working for Phase One for more than 24 years. To be in the same company for so many years is very special for me in many ways. Throughout the years, I’ve had the pleasure of working with many passionate people, which gives you a lot of energy and inspiration in your daily work.  Our amazing products, colleagues and dealers worldwide are some of the keywords for my own dedication and passion. Besides that, the work in Order desk is characterized by both daily routine work, as well as unpredictable and new tasks. That combination suits me well as it gives me a chance to maintain knowledge, work under pressure and stay adaptable. My role involves overseeing order flow, providing daily support, handling purchasing tasks, and maintaining master data in our ERP system.    🌐How do you work with other teams within Phase One, such as the sales and logistics teams, to ensure that orders are fulfilled on time and to the customer's satisfaction?    For the Order Desk team communication is our key tool, in order for us to succeed and provide the best service to colleagues and customers. From order handling to shipping, we handle everything in between, including special certificates and shipping requirements. Collaborating with the global Sales Team, we ensure timely fulfilment of customer requirements. Despite time zone differences, we maintain constant communication, especially with our Production Team in Japan, to stay up-to-date on order changes before shipping.    ⌛️How do you manage your time and prioritize your workload to ensure that all orders are processed accurately and on time?    The keywords here are structure and focus. You must know your priorities and the order of those and then try not to deviate from that. You must be able to handle many things at the same time, while staying cool under pressure. Balancing internal and external pressures can be challenging, but I’ve learned to withstand them over the years. I always approach tasks wholeheartedly, always seeking proactive ways to enhance and optimize our work processes.     💼 What do you enjoy doing outside of work?    I've been passionate about sports, especially handball, playing for over 20 years since I was 5. As a competitive person, I have always been fascinated by the things you can achieve together as a Team and the hard work it requires to succeed and the experience that comes a long with it. Now, my activity level is moderate, focusing on barbell training and progressive overload principles. I still use my competition gen if I want to learn something new or to pursue any goals I may have. I love spending time with my family and friends and they are very important to me. A good way of relaxing is with crosswords and a cop of coffee or beer in the sun.☕🌞
