We're thrilled to announce that Volotea is the first Spanish airline to achieve full approval for our Safety Management System (SMS) from AESA - Agencia Estatal de Seguridad Aérea, as of March 22nd, 2024. This milestone, under the strict regulation of EASA - European Union Aviation Safety Agency, enables us to manage our own maintenance operations within an integrated SMS framework that encompasses both our Continuing Airworthiness Management Organization responsibilities and our Air Operator's Certificate requirements. This marks a significant advancement in our ability to uphold the highest safety standards internally. 🛡️   With a dedicated team of 42 qualified aeronautical maintenance certifiers & mechanics across multiple bases, our commitment to safety and operational excellence is clear. By overseeing our maintenance management directly, we ensure rigorous compliance with regulatory standards and promote a culture of safety and quality across all operations. We've recently embarked on a pivotal journey towards wildlife conservation by partnering with Humane Society International - Europe, one of the largest international organizations protecting animals across various environments, including laboratories, farms, homes, and natural habitats. 🐾   Through this collaboration, we've made a clear commitment to their efforts and have introduced a comprehensive ban on the transportation of hunting trophies. Trophy hunting involves the collection of animal parts as trophies, a practice that poses a severe threat to numerous at-risk species, some on the brink of extinction. This policy, applicable to checked-in luggage and carry-on baggage on all our flights, is a measured step in our commitment to protect wildlife from endangerment and exploitation. It also supports our broader efforts to minimize environmental impacts. 🌍   The transportation industry plays a vital role in curbing the trophy hunting industry. By implementing this policy, we align with a global network of airlines and organizations united in Humane Society International's effort to protect threatened and endangered wildlife. We're happy to announce that we inaugurated our 20th base in Europe at Brest-Bretagne Airport today, marking our ninth base in France. We celebrated through various activities, including a photo booth and offering passengers boarding our inaugural flights to Faro, Rome, and Menorca regional-inspired snacks to enhance their travel experience. There was also an opening ceremony attended by our CEO and Founder, Carlos Muñoz; Chief Strategy Officer, Gabriel Schmilovich Isgut; Country Manager for France, Gilles GOSSELIN; Brest Airport Director Claude ARPHEXAD; the Mayor of Brest, François Cuillandre; and Claude Ravalec, President of the Chamber of Commerce of Finistère. 🇫🇷   Since beginning our operations in 2013, we've transported approximately 700,000 passengers to and from Brest. This year, we're poised to achieve the highest capacity in our history, with more than 355,000 seats available, an increase of 188% compared to 2023. Today, we introduced a new winter route to Strasbourg, with 12,000 seats available. Flights will start on November 7th, and we're excited to announce two more new routes in the coming weeks to complete our offering of 18 destinations from Brest this year. With an Airbus A320 now based at the airport, we're set to significantly impact the region's economic and social landscape, creating approximately 30 direct and nearly 170 indirect jobs. ✈️   This milestone highlights over a decade of our presence in the Brittany region and underscores our commitment to enhancing connectivity between this vibrant area and the rest of Europe. This past Saturday, April 13th, marked a special celebration aboard our inaugural flight from Verona to Bordeaux. In collaboration with La Cité du Vin - Fondation pour la culture et les civilisations du vin, as part of our sponsorship of the museum's Via Sensoria exhibition, we offered our passengers an exclusive in-flight wine-tasting experience. This event was expertly led by sommelier Giulia Pussini, representing the Consorzio di Tutela Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG. Passengers had the option to enjoy a sparkling wine from Conegliano Valdobbiadene or a non-alcoholic Organic Apple Lavender drink from Maison Meneau. 🍾 During the flight, our Marketing Manager for France, Sarah Brasseur, also provided insights into the new route and highlighted our role in connecting cities across Europe, especially in the French and Italian markets. 🌍✈️ From Bordeaux, this year, we have expanded our service to include over 900,000 seats to 30 destinations, featuring the new Verona connection and another route to Palermo. Meanwhile, we will offer approximately 760,000 seats from Verona this year to 20 destinations, including new routes to Barcelona, Bordeaux, Comiso, Copenhagen, Madrid, Prague, and Valencia. We're still reeling from our milestone event in Lyon, where we celebrated our 60 millionth passenger!  🎉 Coinciding happily with this celebration, this week and next mark the launch of flights from Lyon to exciting destinations like Porto, Oslo, Naples, Rhodes, Kalamata, and Marrakech.   The event itself featured gourmet dishes by Chef Grégory Cuilleron, thrilling virtual reality flying experiences, and personalized cockpit tours by our pilots. Live music and a cooking demonstration added to the atmosphere, alongside a photo exhibition that showcased our destinations, making it a night to remember. At Volotea, we've hit a huge milestone - reaching 60 million passengers! This achievement comes at a special time, coinciding with our 12th anniversary, and we celebrated in a big way last night in Lyon, our third-largest base in Europe and the gastronomic capital of France. 🇫🇷🎉 We hosted an event in a special hangar space with one of our A320s taking center stage. Guests enjoyed an onboard aperitif followed by a spectacular dinner, courtesy of renowned local chef Grégory Cuilleron, with dishes inspired by our destinations. Each year, at our Barcelona headquarters, we commemorate the anniversary of our inaugural flight with a cherished local tradition – the Calçotada. This festive Catalan event involves gathering to enjoy calçots (spring onions) grilled over a flame, accompanied by a rich romesco sauce, bringing the community together. We're delighted to share that we've renewed our partnership with La Cité du Vin - Fondation pour la culture et les civilisations du vin in Bordeaux for a second consecutive year. Over the past two months, our Barcelona Headquarters became a hub of inspiration and empowerment as we partnered with Fundación Exit, an organization with over two decades of dedication to combatting youth unemployment and school dropout rates in Spain, notably the highest rates within the European Union.   Through working with them in their #CoachExit project, five Volotea volunteers brought their expertise and coaching skills to the table, aiming to illuminate paths towards further education and promising career trajectories for the young participants. This initiative offered them a glimpse into the business world and helped solidify their commitment to their future careers. The experience was equally enriching for our volunteers, who honed their skills in intergenerational and intercultural communication and developed and deepened their leadership qualities and social responsibility. 📚🎓   At Volotea, we're proud to contribute to initiatives that not only promise a brighter future for the individuals within our communities but also have a wider positive impact across the continent.
