Happy Nurses Week! MSU Federal Credit Union is proud to be the exclusive partner for Nurses Week at University of Michigan Health-Sparrow. This year's theme is fittingly, "Better Together." This week, MSUFCU representatives have been on site volunteering and paying it forward to our local nurses and today I had the honor of thanking Sparrow nurses for their caring and compassionate work at the Nurses Tea, where awards were presented to those who go above and beyond to make our community healthier. MSUFCU is proud to be the financial institution of choice for caregivers at UM Health-Sparrow. A new virtual branch will be opening this summer in the Hospital main lobby making financial services more accessible to Sparrow employees, patients, and visitors. Our second cohort of The Culture of Finances graduated on May 8th. This cohort reached 6 states, began with 99 registered , and finished with 51 successful completions. The 12 week program focuses on financial wellness through addressing social economic barriers, working through the psychological components of money, and providing tools to manage debt, understand and improve credit , fraud protection , as well as develop the discipline of saving and budgeting. We are so proud of our second graduating class and thank them for joining us in this transformative journey. Excited to see you all continue to grow. A special thank you to our community partners Tony Willis of LEAP , Amanda Davis of Habitat of Humanity, and Omari Hall , CDP of GreenPath Financial Wellness for attending, sharing your stories with us , as well as providing access to your resources. Northern Michigan Startup Week isn't just an event; it's a vibrant celebration of innovation and creativity that is driving economic growth in our community and across our state. Last week, I had the honor of attending the TCNewTech University Showdown Pitch Competition, hosted by 20Fathoms. MSU Federal Credit Union contributed to the excitement by sponsoring the showdown's second-place prize of $2,000, which was awarded to MinaRosa, an inspiring women-led health biotech startup. MinaRosa's solution—a portable, discreet light-therapy option for urinary tract infections—offered a transformative alternative for individuals facing antibiotic resistance, empowering them to regain control of their health. The 5-minute pitch was delivered by University of Michigan students, Jingjing (Lily) Li and Ana Timoficiuc.
