Our History

Founded in 1881, AAUW advances equity for women and girls through advocacy, education, philanthropy and research. AAUW Honolulu was founded in 1905 as the College Club. Created to promote “the higher ideals of education among women” it became an official branch of the American Association of University Women in 1922.

In the 2022-2023 school year we awarded over $52,000 in scholarships to qualified deserving women in Hawaii colleges and universities.
