In ancient Greece, the foods prepared as daily meals were often quite different from the high-status foods offered to the gods. Scientific techniques used in Penn Museum’s CAAM labs help bring the foods of Classical Greece into sharper focus. Join Dr. Chantel White as she discusses how foods and beverages preserved for thousands of years have been found at archaeological sites. Her recent research at a 4th century BCE trading port has revealed evidence of baked bread and boiled lentils. She will also present new results for the foods and beverages found at a recently excavated hilltop temple.
