Doe Boy waited quite some time — 12 months, that is — for Jennifer Lopez and Ja Rule to sign off on him sampling one of their most popular collaborations for his new track, “Way I Walk.”

Ahead of the track being released on Monday (June 5), the rapper rushed to social media to express his gratitude toward the two musicians for finally deciding to clear the sample of the popular Murder remix to Lopez’s 2001 track, “I’m Real.”  It appeared on her second studio album, J.Lo.

In a video that has surfaced online recently, despite the long wait, Doe Boy appears to be all smiles. “Thank you J.Lo, I appreciate it. I [have] been begging yo ass for a year, [and] [now] we finally made it happen,” he said.

He continued: “Oh yeah, shout out Ja Rule, he came through clutch for a n-gga. That was gangsta. I respect it.”

In a separate post he shared on his official Instagram page, he again thanked the singer/actor for allowing him to use the sample. “Everybody say THANK YOU @jlo. ‘WAY I WALK’ finally cleared,” he wrote in the caption.

The rapper’s new track was dropped off on Monday (June 5) with its accompanying visual. The song will presumably appear on his upcoming album, BEEZY, which is scheduled to be released on Friday (June 9).

It was only last summer when the rapper first made his plea to Lopez and Ja Rule and made it clear that he was willing to do whatever it took to secure the sample.

In a video shared on Instagram in July 2022, the Cleveland spitter went as far as to ask for the public’s help in getting Lopez’s attention to clear the sample for his now-released track.

“J.Lo, can you please clear my song? I need you to clear my song. Please, I’ll give you whatever. The streets wanna hear that. This how much I love you — I’ve been loving you since I was a kid,” he said while pointing to a poster of J.Lo in his room. “Not in that kind of way because I respect Ben Affleck. I love Batman, too. I’m saying please and I don’t say please — you could ask anybody.

He continued: “Like come on, please, I’ll give you whatever you want. I just want the song cleared. The streets want it so bad. Please, let me set the summer off!”
