For the second season in a row, fashion has learned to reinvent itself. Set against the backdrop of a global pandemic, the industry got creative and daring to present its Fall/Winter 2021-2022 collections. Designers came up with new, more realistic approaches including short films, shows with no audiences and concepts with augmented reality. As a result, ready-to-wear has inevitably become more functional, more respectful of a changing world and easier to wear, with trends that work for every style, gender and silhouette. First and foremost, though, this season set out to make us dream. The pieces were infused with a festive optimism, to bring us some shine until the celebrations can start up again. We break down the trends set to shake up this Fall/Winter 2021-2022 season.
Ski chic
Ski chic is this season's obsession, complete with quilted clothes and comfy jumpsuits, parkas, puffers and even balaclavas. All of the codes of winter clothing have been reinterpreted with an urban twist. In the modern city, winter brings protection, comfort, and chic.

Faux fur
Conscious and respectful of the animal cause, brands are coming up with artificial furs that are both cozy and seemingly more realistic than fur itself.

We all just want to get dressed and go back to work. For officewear, the businesswoman look is updated with tailored, pleated skirts.

The obsession of the season, knitwear favors a comfy yet sexy silhouette. Dresses come as long as you like, can reveal the skin here and there, or are transparent for a more daring effect.

Cosmonaut, alien or astronomer? A bit of everything at the same time. The least we can say is that fashion is dreaming of elsewhere and further afield, rocketing winter into the field of futurewear, with inspirations ranging from sci-fi to NASA.

Silver party
There is a festive air about the collections this season. With dreams as a leitmotif, evening dresses come out of the closet, and a deluge of silver is shaking up fashion, with strength and character.

Leather
A variation on a theme that we definitely never tire of, this season, leather is seen with a bourgeois 1970s vibe at Hermès, as an extreme all-over outfit at Schiaparelli and with a punk rock edge at Simone Rocha.

Patchwork
A feat in geometric style, fashion is displaying its taste for mixing and matching, juxtaposing and sewing together various fabrics and leathers (vegan at Chloé by Gabriela Hearst).
