Baptist Medical Center Jacksonville and Baptist South ranked nationally in several specialties and procedures

Baptist Medical Center Jacksonville and Baptist Medical Center South have been recognized by U.S. News & World Report as one of the top hospitals nationally for gynecology and diabetes and endocrinology.

Baptist Jacksonville and Baptist South ranked 28th nationally for gynecology services and 48th nationally for diabetes and endocrinology. For the 2019-2020 rankings and ratings, U.S. News evaluated more than 4,500 medical centers nationwide in 25 specialties, procedures and conditions. 

The annual Best Hospitals rankings and ratings, now in their 30th year, are designed to assist patients, families and their doctors in making informed decisions in their search for the best care across a range of procedures, conditions and specialties.

In addition, the 2019-2020 report highlighted Baptist Jacksonville and Baptist South as high performing nationally in gastroenterology and GI surgery; geriatrics; nephrology; neurology and neurosurgery; orthopedics; pulmonology and lung surgery; and urology.

Five procedures were recognized as high performing including chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD); colon cancer surgery; heart failure; hip replacement; and knee replacement.

Wolfson Children’s Hospital was also ranked in June among the 50 Best Children’s Hospitals for Pediatric Cancer and Pediatric Neurology & Neurosurgery in June.

The U.S. News Best Hospitals methodologies in most areas of care are based largely on objective measures such as risk-adjusted survival and discharge-to-home rates, volume, and quality of nursing, among other care-related indicators.
