Honoring Judith Jamison

Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater returns to New York City Center, November 29-December 31 for the Company’s 65th Anniversary season. In the spirit of celebrating the outstanding women of Ailey, this year’s Gala honoree is Artistic Director Emerita Judith Jamison, whose beauty and strength as a dancer, creativity as a choreographer, and vision and commitment as a leader continue to inspire us today.

The season’s Opening Night Gala featured a one-night-only performance of a world premiere created in collaboration with Tony®, Emmy®, and GRAMMY® Award-winning and Oscar-nominated actress, singer, author, and producer Cynthia Erivo. It closed with Alvin Ailey’s indelible Revelations, performed to a live choir singing the unforgettable score of spirituals.

Proceeds from the Gala support the creation of new works, scholarships for talented students at The Ailey School, and Ailey’s innovative educational programs for children.
