About the Panelists:

Jeff Hunt

Jeff Hunt has served as the Director of the Centennial Institute at Colorado Christian University and co-Chairman of the Western Conservative Summit since 2015. In this role, he leads one of the largest annual gatherings of conservatives in the Western United States and hosts numerous notable speakers on the campus of Colorado Christian University. He oversees the Centennial Institute’s lobbying team, working to shape policy at the Colorado Capitol to advance faith, family, and freedom. Jeff is also the editor of the Centennial Review, a monthly speech digest distributed to thousands of readers across the country.

A regular writer, his pieces have been published in USA Today, Fox News, Denver Post, Colorado Springs Gazette, Washington Examiner, Townhall, Colorado Politics, and many others. He has appeared on Fox News, CSPAN, OANN, Newsmax, and many local stations. Jeff earned his BA degrees in Philosophy and Religious Studies from Westmont College, Master of Divinity from Fuller Theological Seminary, and Master of Political Management from George Washington University. Jeff is an ultra-runner, former river guide, and loves to be outdoors. He and his wife, Nicole, have four children and live on a ranch in Elizabeth, Colorado.

Scott Wasserman

Scott Wasserman has lived in Colorado for over twenty-years and has had a long career in state politics and policy. As President of the Bell Policy Center, Scott has worked to expand economic mobility for every Coloradan by educating policymakers about the state’s fiscal options, fighting back against predatory practices, and advocating for two generation solutions to economic and racial inequality.

Prior to joining the Bell, Scott served Governor John Hickenlooper as a Deputy Chief of Staff and, Lt. Governors Joe Garcia, and Lt. Governor Donna Lynne as Chief of staff. In these roles, he wrote legislation creating the Colorado Opportunity Scholarship Initiative, oversaw government operations in times of emergency, and assisted state agency leaders forge a more integrated approach to education and workforce issues. Scott spent many years working for the Service Employees International Union in a variety of roles, eventually becoming president of Colorado WINS, the state’s state employee union, and leading the union through the challenges of the Great Recession. He regularly presents to community leaders, media, and students on the policy making process. He has a B.A in Middle Eastern Studies from George Washington University, has taught for many years and works as an adjunct professor at the University of Denver Scrivner School. Scott lives in Denver with his wife, two children, and five chickens. He enjoys nature and tinkers with things in the kitchen, workshop, or the backyard whenever he can.

Luige del Puerto

Luige del Puerto, a veteran political reporter and award-winning journalist, is Editor of Colorado Politics and The Denver Gazette. He previously served as publisher and editor of Arizona Capitol Times, a Phoenix-based media company that covers public policy and politics. A native of the Philippines, Del Puerto cut his journalistic teeth covering crime in the streets of Metro Manila. At the Philippine Daily Inquirer, he pursued stories about labor, elections and national security, covering coup d’état attempts in his home country. He and his wife moved to the United States in 2006. He has won numerous local and national awards in the U.S. for his reporting. Del Puerto graduated magna cum laude from the school of journalism at the University of Philippines.
