RSLC Statement: Republicans Flip North Carolina Supreme Court

Overcome Over $5.6 Million in Liberal TV Spending

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Republicans Trey Allen and Richard Dietz tonight each defeated their Democrat opponents, giving Republicans control of North Carolina’s state Supreme Court. This seismic shift in the Court’s balance of power came despite liberals spending over $5.6 million on television to hold these critical seats.

“Tonight’s result in North Carolina is a resounding rebuke of Eric Holder’s sue until its blue gerrymandering scheme,” said RSLC President Dee Duncan. “The people of the Tar Heel State are fed up with Democrat judges trying to advance the national liberal agenda from the bench, and tonight elected strong conservatives who will follow the Constitution and uphold the law as written. Trey Allen and Richard Dietz will bring integrity back to North Carolina’s redistricting process and we are ecstatic about their victories.”

The RSLC-JFI in February announced a plan to push back on Eric Holder’s sue until its blue gerrymandering scheme by spending record resources in state Supreme Court races in key states where judges could play a role in redistricting within this decade.
