Beech Bluff County Park

Construction is currently underway on Beech Bluff County Park! Located in the southeast corner of Wake County adjacent to the towns of Garner and Fuquay-Varina, the park is expected to open in 2024. Check back here for updates or follow our Facebook page.

On August 19, 2019, the Wake County Board of Commissioners approved the master plan for the property and officially named it "Beech Bluff County Park." The 300 acres of undeveloped forests, wetlands, steam channels and rock outcrops that make up the project were previously referred to as Southeast County Park.

How We Got Here: Community Meetings

As a part of the master planning process, Wake County Parks, Recreation and Open Space conducted a series of community forums to gather residents’ input about the development of the park. The forums allowed residents to play an active role in the park’s design.

Community Meeting 1 - Sept. 25, 2018

The first forum took place Sept. 25 at the Fuquay-Varina Community Center. It included interactive stations designed to inform attendees about the park property, including the environmental and natural resources, as well as the site history. This meeting gave residents an opportunity to provide feedback to staff and the design team for the development of this park.

Community Meeting 2 - Feb. 12, 2019

At this drop-in meeting, attendees viewed design options based on feedback received during the first community meeting and from the public survey. Using sticky notes, they shared their thoughts about each option.

Community Meeting 3 - April 30, 2019

Attendees checked out the final draft design based on feedback received during prior meetings as well as from the public survey. They also voted on names for the new park.
