IMPACT Awards

Presented by the Ruderman Family Foundation
2023 IMPACT Awards

As we continue to respond to our communities' evolving needs and commit to supporting recovery across New England, the Red Sox Foundation is now accepting nominations for the 9th Annual "IMPACT" Awards (Inspiring More Philanthropy Across Charities Together) presented by the Ruderman Family Foundation. The IMPACT Awards provide Red Sox fans in the six New England states with the chance to nominate their favorite local non-profit organization for their opportunity to win a grant from the Red Sox Foundation.

At the conclusion of the nomination period, the Red Sox Foundation will judge nominations to determine five finalists from each state and give Red Sox Nation the opportunity to vote to decide which top 3 non-profits each receive a prize.

In 2023, the IMPACT Awards will continue to focus on organizations that have demonstrated deep impact in raising awareness and improving the mental health outcomes in their community. The three organizations with the most votes in each state will win a grant: $10,000 for first place, $3,000 for second place and $2,000 for third place. Please find the recognition opportunities below for each tier.

History of the Ruderman Family Foundation Partnership

The Ruderman Family Foundation and Red Sox Foundation have partnered for the past three years to focus on improving mental health outcomes in communities across New England. The centerpiece of this partnership is the annual IMPACT Awards, which provides grant funding to mental-health-focused nonprofits in all six New England states. Since the start of this partnership in 2020, $270,000 have been distributed throughout the communities we serve.

In 2022, in an effort to foster open discussion surrounding mental health in sports, the two foundations hosted a panel discussion at Fenway Park featuring Red Sox Director of Behavioral Health Dr. Richard Ginsburg, Assistant Director of Psychology Training for the Department of Psychiatry at Massachusetts General Hospital Dr. Jonathan Jenkins, and Massachusetts Secretary of Health and Human Services Marylou Sudders. The event included opening remarks by Boston Mayor Michelle Wu, Red Sox President & CEO Sam Kennedy, and Vice President and MLB Special Assistant to the Commissioner Billy Bean.
